Discover A New Destiny

I haven't been able to release too much information about The Other Side of the Glass because I am currently searching for an agent and publisher, but one thing I can reveal is that the concept of destiny plays a VERY important role in it. Like the characters in my book, I believe in destiny, and I also believe that there is a lot about our destinies that we aren't able or meant to know or understand.

A part of this philosophy involves the incredible importance of knowing what you want out of life, and as I have already mentioned, finishing this novel was on my own personal list of things that I wanted to complete during my lifetime. This part of ANovel Design will be dedicated to just that: the idea of destiny and what YOU can do to achieve your best destiny-- the destiny of your choosing.

We may feel out of control, and it can be easy to say that what we do won't matter, that our fate has already been determined, but we do have a hand in our lives and I whole-heartedly believe that. I am trying my best to live this philosophy by making my dreams come true, and I want to know what you are doing to make your goals become realities as well.

YOUR FIRST ASSIGNMENT

As easy as it sounds, your first assignment for discovering a new destiny is to really think about what you want out of your life. This can result in a list of goals you want to accomplish (this is the route I took), or one overall mission. How do you want to live your life? What do you want to do? Who do you want to be?

Don't think about the limitations or the "hows," just make a list and the rest will follow.

NOW...

Now that you've got a list of what you want to do, take a minute, a day, a week, however long you need, but take time to pick ONE. I don't care how you do it--start at the top, the bottom, throw a few darts at your list, it doesn't matter how you do it, but your next goal is to pick one item on your list. I want you to focus on this task until you get it done!

Start by making a Focus Wall.

Find an image and a single word that you can associate with this task. For example, when I set out to complete one of the most recent items on my list, I used the word "change" and a picture of Rapunzel. It wasn't large, about a half a sheet of paper, but it was effective. It geared me up to face my most recent challenge! At the bottom of this "Inspirational Panel" write down a date: the date that you want to have the particular goal achieved by. Now grab a thumb tack and pin it up on a wall where you will see it every day :)

CHECK THIS OUT!

I think I've found my next challenge...starting January 1st, I am going to do this. What are you going to do?
